Optical filters and display assemblies for industrial applications are a key Dontech market. Current industrial applications include optical filter, display, and touchscreen solutions for manufacturing process monitoring and controls, mobile and stationary test equipment, user interface solutions such as POS and mobile computing, telecommunications equipment, GPS and navigational equipment, and industrial vehicle control.

Dontech’s display assemblies and filters for industrial applications are used to enhance the performance of electronic displays (e.g., LCDs and OLEDs) and touchscreens (e.g., 5 wire resistive and projected capacitive), so that the display assembly can meet the demanding ruggedization, optical, and environmental requirements of industrial applications. We have extensive in-house manufacturing and metrology/testing capabilities. For these reasons, we can not only control but uniquely monitor and tune the performance-driving variables of our products. Common enhancements include washdown/protective windows, antiglare/antireflective, and EMI/RFI reduction solutions.

How We Address Your Needs

Demanding industrial environments require performance from operational, maintenance, and other support devices. Dontech designs filters and display assemblies to address functional requirements including impact resistance, high ambient light readability/contrast enhancement, EMI/RFI shielding, low and high temperature mitigation, and environmental and mechanical ruggedization.

Dontech utilizes various substrate materials such as chemically strengthened glass, acrylic, and polycarbonate to optimize the performance, weight, and cost requirements of an application. Contrast enhancements are achieved through active and passive enhancement of the backlighting and film layers of LCDs, antireflective and antiglare surface coatings and optical bonding technologies, and polarization, to reduce internal reflections resulting from touchscreens and display surfaces.

The incorporated EMI/RFI shielding technologies in Dontech filters provide solutions for both radiated susceptibility (RS) and radiated emissions requirements. Dontech manufactures optical shielding solutions with conductive optical grids, including both patterned (e.g., etched) metal films and conductively electroplated woven fine wire meshes. Standard Dontech woven mesh is available from 50 through 255 openings per inch (OPI) and from 80 to 160 OPI for patterned/etched mesh. For applications that cannot use mesh, Dontech’s transparent conductive coatings (e.g., ITO) with resistances as low as <1 ohm/square can address shielding requirements.

Transparent heaters and solar reflecting components can extend the operational temperature range of display assemblies. Additionally, Dontech can incorporate features such as mounting frames, bezels, and gaskets for environmental and shock and vibration ruggedization. The range of solutions available to meet the specific application needs allows for highly customizable shielding and optical solutions.
